Does ‘backcountry skiing’ sound intimidating to you? Come join us for a one-day ‘Intro to Backcountry’ course and give light to what it means to ski beyond the resort boundaries. Gain knowledge and understanding of basic winter backcountry travel and safety skills. (This class is an excellent pre-cursor to taking your AIARE Level 1 Avalanche course).
We will begin by discussing what constitutes as ‘proper’ gear in the backcountry, including: clothing, equipment, packs, etc. Learn how to plan for trips and how to recognize and safely travel through avalanche terrain. This class will provide you with the basics to take your ‘uphilling’ off-piste.
